Registrar General's Indexes from 1837 (microform), or Registrar General for Scotland's Computerised Index from 1855.

Locations From 1/1/1864. Indexes to civil records (births, deaths and marriages) available in Bru Boru Heritage Centre, Cashel (South Riding), and Tipperary North Family History Foundation Nenagh (Tipperary North Riding Records)

Bassetts Book of County 1889. The only directory that deals specifically with the County - includes small towns and villages.

Some past electoral registers have been lodged with the National Library, Kildare Street, Dublin 2.
Current Registers also available from the relevant local authority, i.e. Tipperary North Riding County Council, The Courthouse, Nenagh. Co. Tipperary; and Tipperary South Riding County Council, Emmet Street, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary

Original records remain in possession of the local clergy.
Records have been indexed and are available from the following centres who have research fees. The public do not have access to the records to carry out their own research.
Tipperary Heritage Unit, The Bridewell, St Michael's Street, Tipperary - the only centre with access to the Catholic records for the diocese of Cashel & Emly ~see map$
Bru Boru Heritage Centre, Cashel - Church of Ireland records for South Tipperary and Catholic records for the parishes in South Tipperary that are in the diocese of Waterford
Tipperary North Family History Foundation, The Gatehouse, Kickham Street, Nenagh
Tipperary North Family History Foundation - church records for North Tipperary apart from the Catholic parishes which are situated in the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly

The County Tipperary Historical Society, publisher of the Tipperary Historical Journal, is administered at Tipperary Libraries. The Society provides a large number of pages within the Library's Web site, one of which contains a full list of all contents of each issue of the Journal.
