Subject Files - Self indexing, arranged by subject, e.g. textile firms, shops and businesses, schools, churches and chapels.
10. Parish Registers
No original registers held. Printed transcripts of Yorkshire parish registers include all the publications of the Yorkshire Parish Register Society (now the Parish Register Series of the Yorkshire Archaelogical Society) and the Thoresby Society. Microfilms and microfiche include some original registers and bishop's transcripts at the Bradford office of the West Yorkshire Archives Service and the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research at York. Microfilm copies of the non-parochial and Quaker registers for Yorkshire held in the Public Record Office.

Copies of tombstone and monumental inscriptions, covering about 120 churches, chapels, graveyards and cemeteries in the Bradford
area, were made by Arthur Blackburn c 1930 and are available on microfilm. There is a growing collection of transcripts of other local churches.
Index to the Archbishop of York's Marriage Bonds and Allegations to 1839.
Extensive collection of general material on the subject of genealogy including "Wow to do it" manuals and guides to specific types of records. The Library's collection covers local history as well as family history, and many of the items in the local collection are helpful if not directly related; for example, the large collections of historic maps and of photographs are heavily used by family historians.
These is a free access to the Internet in the Local Studies Library and there is also public access to several useful CD-ROM's such as 1881 census and the Soldiers Died in the Great War.
