Pudsey, 1935-1972, and Morley, 1938-1973 (both boroughs became part of Leeds Metropolitan District and were included in the Leeds registers from 1974)

9. Unpublished Indexes

Card index compiled by Library staff of items of local historical interest, including obituaries and biographical articles on local people, in Leeds newspapers and some Yorkshire periodicals. Coverage is incomplete and dates from the 1950s onwards, but the index includes references to some volumes of newscuttings of Leeds obituaries and items on local people, from c.1890 to 1920, and to individual entries in printed pedigrees of Yorkshire families.



10. Parish Registers

No original registers held. Printed transcripts of Yorkshire parish registers include all the publications of the Yorkshire Parish Register Society (now the Parish Register Series of the Yorkshire Archaeological Society) and the Thoresby Society. Microfilms and microfiches include some original registers and bishop's transcripts at the Leeds office of the West Yorkshire Archives Service, the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research at York, and the Yorkshire Archaeological Society.
Microfilm copies of the non-parochial and Quaker registers for Yorkshire held in the Public Record Office.

Extensive collection of general material on the subject of genealogy, including 'how to do it' manuals and guides to specific types of records
The Library's collection covers local history as well as family history, and many of the items in the local collection are helpful if not directly related; for example, the large collections of historic maps and of photographs are heavily used by family historians
