5. Census returns
The three Record Offices between them hold Suffolk-wide coverage in microform of all census from 1841 to 1891. 1851, 1881 and 1891 are available for the whole county at all three Record Offices .
Portions of Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire are held, the areas covered varying according to census year and Record Office.
6. Directories
6(a) County and Regional Directories
Most Suffolk directories, c.1830-1937, are held by all three Record Offices. Each Record Office has a selection of Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire directories for the same period
6(b) City and Town Directories
Town directories, late 19th-20th centuries, are held for Bury St Edmunds (BRO), Ipswich and Stowmarket (IRO) and Lowestoft (LRO)
6(c) Telephone Directories
All three Record Offices hold a selection of local directories from c.1960 with a few earlier volumes
7. Electoral registers and polls books
7(a) Electoral Registers
Almost-complete series for all Suffolk constituencies are held at the appropriate Record Office
7(b) Poll Books
Most printed poll books for the county are held at all three Record Offices; each Record Office holds a selection of relevant Borough poll-books (manuscript and printed)
8. International Genealogical Index (IGI)
1994 edition for the UK is held at all three Record Offices. BRO also holds 1994 edition for Australia, New Zealand and Canada
9. Unpublished Indexes
All Record Offices have persons, places and subject indexes to their archive collections
10. Parish Registers
All ancient parishes in Suffolk have deposited the bulk of their registers in the appropriate Record Office. All registers down to 1900 are available in microform at all Record Offices.
Many registers are available in the three Record Offices in transcript form.
11. Periodicals (excl. newspapers)
As the Suffolk Record Office includes the county local studies collection, all local periodicals are held, some in all Record Offices, more local ones at the appropriate Record Office
