Holt Index. Index of the main local newspaper for the old Borough of Ealing from 1858 to 1961. This index is in two parts 1858-1901 and 1902-1961. It is available in bound volumes.
Newspaper Index. 1961+ A detailed index to the main local newspapers for the London Borough of Ealing. Unlike the Holt Index it includes information on the whole of the present borough (e.g. also covers Acton and Southall). It is alphabetical/classified and in card form. Currently indexing April 1984.
Acton Gazette (information on old Borough of Acton only). 1863+. Currently indexing 1945. Available in bound volumes.

Additional indexes:
Cumulative Index: covering scrapbooks, Ealing Local History Society publications and various other publications on the Borough. This index will gradually be absorbed into the General Information Index.

Subject Index: consisting mainly of information from materials not in stock at the library. This index will gradually be absorbed into the General Information Index.

Personalities Index: includes names which appear in early rate books, vestry minute books, etc., as well as from more modern sources. Work has already begun on transferring this information to the General Information Index.

General Information Index: this index is intended eventually to record five categories of material under an appropriate subject heading.
